Nigerian Internet Searches for Bitcoin and Crypto are the Highest in the World
While Nigeria is ranked fourth in terms of crypto ownership, the country is still considered the world leader when it comes to “the number of people searching for the keywords ‘bitcoin’ and ‘crypto’ on Google.” These findings are apparently supported by the results of another study, which suggested that Nigeria is the most crypto-obsessed country.
Meanwhile, data from Triple A shows that South Africa is the African country with the second highest population of cryptocurrency holders at 7.7 million. This figure constitutes nearly 12.5% of the South African population. Kenya has the third largest population of crypto owners in Africa, at 6.1 million or 11.6% of the country’s population.
Egypt and Tanzania, which have 2.37 million and 2.32 million holders respectively, round out the top five countries in Africa with the most crypto owners. Seychelles, which has around 1,257 crypto owners, is the lowest-ranked African country.
