Cryptocurrencies often do not fit neatly into traditional asset compartments. They are not exactly currencies. They are not exactly commodities. And while many share commonalities with stocks, there are also differences. As such, US regulators have not put in place clear rules on their trading and issuance, leaving entrepreneurs and investors in limbo.
