Solana, Polkadot now listed on world’s oldest active crypto exchange, Bitstamp

The crypto exchange listing bot sounded the alarm that major cryptocurrencies Solana and Polkadot are now listed on Bitstamp. Solana (SOL) ranks ninth among cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, while Polkadot (DOT) currently ranks eleventh.

Notably, the exchange announced the listing of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) meme cryptocurrency in June after postponing it due to technical difficulties.

As U.Today reports, the oldest cryptocurrency exchange still in operation, Bitstamp, has just celebrated its eleventh anniversary. Given that the exchange has managed to survive all these years in an industry plagued by scams and hacking incidents, this remains another milestone for the exchange. Mt. Gox, the dominant cryptocurrency exchange in the industry’s early years, collapsed in early 2014 following a devastating hacking incident.

Solana has established itself as a blockchain competitor to Ethereum, which has been criticized for its exorbitant fees and slow transaction times. However, this has come at the cost of multiple network disruptions over the past year.

Despite the outages and the recent multi-million dollar wallet hack, Solana has made its way to major crypto exchanges. In April, stock brokerage app Robinhood announced Solana’s listing.

A few months ago, news of the “Solana Phone” made headlines. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said the network’s smartphone, the Solana Saga, was a way to introduce cryptocurrency to the world of mobile computing.

Essentially, the SOL phone would serve as a cryptocurrency hardware wallet. Moreover, it would contain a developer stack that would simplify the creation and downloading of cryptocurrency applications. Polkadot also continues to lead the pack in terms of development activity.

According to an on-chain analytics company SanimentPolkadot was the second most developed project in the last 30 days, closely followed by Ethereum.
