Job appointment

Indian fintech BharatPe appoints two independent directors to its board of directors. Shri BP Kanungoformer Deputy Governor of RBI and Shri Kaushik Dutta, current chairman and independent director of Zomato. The nominations are in line with the company’s goal of building a world-class institution and being the torchbearer of corporate governance in the startup world.

Mary Writz joined the management team of Sift as senior vice president of product. Writz will lead Sift’s strategy and product development to help companies secure every step of the customer journey. Writz joins Sift after four years at identity management company ForgeRock.

VizyPay, a payment processor for US small businesses, unveiled a series of promotions. Sales manager Elizabeth Ruckercustomer success director Olivia Room and Director of Marketing and Sales Enablement Shannon McCann all join VizyPay.

Elliptical, a crypto-asset risk management company, appoints John Melican as legal director. He first joined the firm as head of external affairs in January. In his expanded role, Melican brings together and leads the company’s legal, regulatory and advisory functions.

Meanwhile, Wombat appointed Jeremy Larson as Chief Revenue Officer and Head of Partnerships. The appointment coincides with the micro-investment platform’s European expansion plans following the close of the Series A funding round.

Clevera global retirement technology provider is hiring Gaobo Pang as Head of Quantitative Strategy. Pang’s hiring reflects Smart’s plans to create comprehensive retirement and income planning technology that will allow plan members to better prepare for and manage their expenses in retirement.

More appointments

Transfloa mobile and cloud-based platform that automates and unifies supply chain processes, uncovers Cameron Eastman as the new Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Transflo, Eastman served as Vice President of Finance at Cantata. At Transflo, he will focus on preparing the business as it enters “hyper-growth mode”.

Billing and payment application blue chain names Tim Annis as Managing Director in the UK to drive success and lead its expansion in the UK and Europe. He previously held the position of Head of UK Sales since March 2020.

Julien La Picque joined Chiliz, the blockchain provider for sports and entertainment, as the group’s chief financial officer. La Picque’s appointment comes as technology company Web3 prepares for exponential growth with the fourth quarter launch of Chiliz Chain 2.0 (CC2) – the new layer 1 blockchain for the sports and entertainment industry.

Partnerships

DKK Partnersspecializing in emerging market foreign exchange liquidity, has appointed Boville, the financial services regulatory consultancy, as a global compliance partner. Bovill will work with DKK to ensure that all processes and operations meet all compliance requirements. In addition, Bovill will provide advice and recommendations on regulatory matters.

Meanwhile, Atomic, payroll connectivity provider, has entered into a partnership with Hydrogen, a fintech platform that allows businesses to quickly launch white-label debit cards without coding. Hydrogen enables organizations to integrate payroll connectivity into its platform, unlocking functionality for employers, employees, gig economy workers, and payroll providers.

codet, the API for Small Business Data, has partnered with nCino, the cloud banking company, to automate and accelerate banks’ ability to underwrite small business loans worldwide. With this integration, banks and financial institutions that use codat will have access to automated solutions for their reporting and analysis, providing a clearer picture of risk and a better financial experience for small business customers.

Blockchain and cryptocurrency infrastructure provider Binance Canada teamed up with Minerva AI. Binance Canada will use Minerva’s artificial intelligence tools, extensive sanctions, and other risk screening capabilities to enhance its know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) capabilities.

There is also a partnership for Token and sumsub to create a better onboarding experience. Jeton, a global e-wallet company, wanted a document verification solution to adapt to new markets while remaining compliant. Sumsub leverages machine learning and AI technology to automate and accelerate the verification process, boost conversion, and reduce costs.

Financing and investments

InvestSuite, an international B2B investment firm, completed a Series A funding round of €6 million, bringing the total raised to €15 million since inception. InvestSuite welcomes two new strategic investors, the Chronos Group and OSOM fundingalongside the existing investor PMV.

Inerya decentralized data management system, secured an investment from a web-focused blockchain venture capital firm3 Metavest at a valuation of $128 million. With this funding, Inery aims to expand its use cases, especially in GameFi.

MAJORITY, a mobile bank for migrants, pocketed $37.5 million in Series B funding along with new office openings in Texas and Florida. This funding comes just nine months after MAJORITY’s Series A funding round and brings the company’s total funding to $83.5 million. The new funds will be used to improve MAJORITY’s library of essential services.

insurtech Turaco closed a $10 million Series A fundraising round led by AfricInvest. The round also included the participation of Enza Capital, Global Partnerships, Zephyr Acorn and Push businesses. The mission of the insurtech company is to free people from the fear of financial shocks caused by unexpected health risks.
